Overview

In this workshop participants learn to create and manage courses in UF’s e-Learning Management system. Facilitators guide the application of course design best practices and management strategies to help instructors prepare online courses that are efficient and student-friendly. Successful completion of all three parts of the series earns a UF e-Learning Certificate.

The e-Learning workshop is a three-part training series where participants will gain a foundational understanding of how to create and manage an online course beginning with how to make a course request, add users, how to navigate within e-Learning, and organize files.  Expert trainers and facilitators guide practice in this hands-on learning workshop.

 

Getting Started

The first in a three-part series, participants will gain a foundational understanding of how to create and manage an online course beginning with how to make a course request, add users, how to navigate within e-Learning, and organize files.   Participants will review the e-Learning Dashboard and related features: Courses, Grades, Calendar, Inbox, e-Learning Settings, and the Canvas Guides.

 

Course Request

Participants will walk through the process of submitting a course request for development and actual course shells. Participants will learn how to create, manage and review the benefits of a Sandbox.

Intermediate Training

Manage Activities

In intermediate training, the second part in the series, participants learn how to set up courses and employ online teaching best practices. Using hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to use the system’s features to layout materials and activities in a way that maximizes student engagement. Expert trainers and facilitators will guide participants in learning how to create media-rich pages, assignments, discussions, and quizzes; while alsosharing tips and tricks to help participants efficiently grade and communicate with students.

 

Advanced Training

In this third and last session, participants will explore gradebook functions and how to grade student assignments. With hands-on exercises, we will learn the advanced features of Groups, Rubrics and Question Banks to enhance your online teaching.

In the advanced training, participants will learn how to effectively use quiz banks, rubrics, peer review, and the Conferences tool. Participants will also learn how to import and copy an entire e-Learning course.
