Applying Educational Theory
Applying Educational Theory analyzes how the Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education and the Experiential Learning cycle can influence instruction and course design. Participants will create an assignment that applies basic concepts from one of these theories, while reflecting on the potential benefits and challenges of doing so.
The homepage allows students to easily navigate throughout the course, interact with the content, and access the supporting research. By accessing the Start Here module, participants will be provided an overview of the goals, information on accessing Course Reserves, and the requirements for completing the professional development opportunity.
The Experiential Learning module guides participants through the key components of Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle, allows for the opportunity to assess the impact of cultural differences and learning styles on the cycle, and identifies the potential significance experiential learning can have on instruction.

This is one of the optional professional development opportunities in the Principles of Effective Instruction Certificate of Completion. To receive the certificate of completion, you must complete five of the eight opportunities listed below.
