It seems like everyone has an AI tool these days! Before you try all the tools out there, it’s important to consider the safety of your data and privacy. Do you really want your material to train chatbots and possibly become accessible to others?
With that in mind, did you know that UF has a license agreement with Microsoft to protect your data when you use the Microsoft Copilot chatbot on the web? When you are signed in with your UF account, Microsoft agrees to not retain your chatbot conversations and will not use the content for training AI models. Look for the green “Protected” badge to ensure that your chats will not be saved! Keep in mind that you’ll have to save what you need because the website will not keep it for you. Copilot can generate images if you ask it to, and using the conversation style buttons can get you interesting results! If you are looking for a generalized chatbot for UF business, this should be your starting point before exploring and risk-assessing other tools!
In addition, UFIT has developed the UF NaviGator AI service. With this tool, you can upload documents and have conversations about them – ask for summaries or bullet points, answer research questions, generate quiz questions based on the content, or more! Students, faculty, and staff can access this tool and resources at the UFIT AI services website.
And, as always, if you want to explore ways to use AI in teaching and learning, please reach out to us at the CITT so that we can start a conversation! We would be happy to brainstorm or assist!
